Program Overview

Humber’s Business Administration Co-op advanced diploma program allows you to develop extensive knowledge on how businesses work and become competent in the full range of skills needed to facilitate business operations. Courses in operations management, accounting, human resources management, marketing research and much more will give you the opportunity to cultivate key business skills such as communication, teamwork, project management and strategic business analysis.

This program also allows you to develop your leadership skills. You’ll learn to strategize, negotiate, set priorities, manage time and solve problems effectively.

This program is built on a common platform of a solid business education – principles of management, marketing, business law, mathematics of finance and microeconomics. The platform is shared with other business diploma programs in Year 1 and is expanded on in Year 2. Students will then shift their focus and begin working towards their specialization in the Year 3.

Courses Program Standards

Upon successful completion of the program, a graduate will:

  1. Evaluate the impact of global issues on an organization’s business opportunities by using an environmental scan*.
  2. Apply principles of corporate sustainability*, corporate social responsibility and ethics to support an organization’s business initiatives.
  3. Assess and use current concepts/systems and technologies to support an organization's business initiatives.
  4. Conduct and present research to support business decision making.
  5. Plan, implement and evaluate projects by applying project management principles .
  6. Perform work in compliance with relevant statutes, regulations and business practices.
  7. Apply human resource practices to support management objectives and the organization’s goals.
  8. Use accounting and financial principles to support the management and operations of an organization.
  9. Assess marketing and sales concepts and strategies and apply them to the needs of an organization.
  10. Outline principles of supply chain* management and operations management and assess their impact on the operations of an organization.
  11. Participate in the development of a business plan.
  12. Develop strategies for ongoing personal and professional development to enhance work performance in the business field.
  13. Outline strategies used to manage risks in an organization's business activities.

Work-Integrated Learning  

With support from an employment placement advisor, you are responsible for finding suitable paid co-op placements. Co-op work placements take place after Semesters 2 and 4. Each placement is 14 weeks (12 weeks mandatory).

Study Abroad

Humber College provides students with many global opportunities to study for a semester abroad. It is recommended that you meet with an international co-ordinator responsible for your academic school to explore the study options available.

Our graduates have the benefit of a high quality, broad-based business education with a strong foundation in accounting, finance, human resources administration, management, operations, business systems and marketing. Upon graduation, you’ll be well equipped to take on a wide variety of positions in areas including customer service, marketing, marketing research and sales, purchasing, HR administration, product and account management, event planning, accounting and financial planning, and budget analysis.

National Committee for Management Accreditation (NCMA)

This program is recognized by the National Committee for Management Accreditation (NCMA) as being Professionally Accredited.Students in accredited programs will be eligible for free Student Associate Membership while they are enrolled.

Canadian Professional Sales Association (CPSA)

The program is recognized by Canadian Professional Sales Association (CPSA) as an accredited education partner. Courses from Accredited Partners can be applied toward earning or maintaining your CPSA Institute professional designations. 

Canadian Securities Institute (CSI)

Specific courses of this program may be recognized for additional industry recognition with the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI).

FP Canada

Specific courses of this program may be recognized for additional industry recognition with the FP Canada.

Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA)

Specific courses of this program may be recognized for additional industry recognition with the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA).

Materials Handling and Management Society (MHMS)

Specific courses of this program may be recognized for additional industry recognition with the Materials Handling and Management Society (MHMS).
