Scholarships and Awards

The Business School offers a wide range of scholarships and awards, generously provided by individuals and organizations. They are both non-repayable and allocated on the basis of financial need and/or recognition of effort, achievement and commitment to a specific program and/or future career. Other criteria such as leadership potential, community involvement, abilities, may also be considered.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for an OTSS student financial aid scholarship, applicants must:

  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Person*
  • have been a resident of Ontario for 12 consecutive months prior to starting school**
  • be enrolled in a full-time postsecondary program approved for funding by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities
  • have demonstrated financial need
  • have not received a student financial aid scholarship this academic year

Note: The applicant’s academic progress is an important factor in determining eligibility for these student financial aid scholarships. His/her grades will be checked upon application.

How to apply

  • complete the OTSS Application and Budget Form
  • attach a letter stating briefly how this financial aid scholarship will assist you in meeting your educational goals
  • return the completed application form and attachments to the Financial Aid Office, Room D133, North Campus by the specified deadline.

Brother Canada Entrepreneurial Award

To a full-time Business Student in his/her graduating year (or a continuing education student who has completed more than 50% of the Entrepreneurial Studies Certificate - Program 211), who has shown consistently high academic performance, an interest in pursuing a career in the business field and who best demonstrates entrepreneurial skills. Selection for this award is by application, committee review and recommendation to the Dean.

Awarded annually to two full-time International Business School students for outstanding commitment to their academic studies, extracurricular activities and who has shown perseverance in overcoming a barrier or challenge. Frank Franklin, the Director of International Programs who retired in 2005, has supported the achievements of many International Business students. Selection is made through committee review and recommendation to the Dean.

The recipient must be carrying a full-time course load to qualify for this award. Students interested in this award apply in writing describing their commitment to their academic achievements, extracurricular activities and the challenge or barrier that he or she has surpassed.

Awarded to an international student from Jimei University who intends to further study at Humber College. This fully endowed award is given annually to a student who demonstrates serious commitment to academic studies, and a broadened understanding of the world through studies at Humber College. Students must submit a one page essay on why he/she wants to study at Humber College. Selection is made through committee recommendation to the Dean. John L. Murray Award for Excellence In Marketing

Payment Information

Recipients are notified in writing when their Scholarship/Award funds will be available for disbursement. Some awards are presented at the College's annual award presentation ceremonies, attended by the recipients, company representatives, and members of the Humber faculty/staff.

Please note that awards are considered part of a student's taxable income for the year. The College will issue T4A forms to all recipients for the year in which the award is paid.
