This study abroad program is designed for degree-level students (from a partnering institution) wishing to complete a semester of their undergraduate studies at Humber.
A True Canadian Experience
Inbound study abroad students select courses, write examinations and receive credit just like any of Humber's full-time students. Inbound students become fully integrated and gain a true experience of being a student, in Canada, at Humber.
A Selection of Courses
A study abroad student must select courses that will fulfill the academic requirements of his/her home institution. Students can take up to 5 courses per semester and can choose a wide range of subjects from across many disciplines, but must take timetable and examination scheduling into consideration when making their selection. The study abroad coordinator at Humber can advise on study plans and subject selections.
Humber's Semester Schedule
Students may apply directly through one’s home institute. Please note, typically we do not accept students into first-year or final-year studies. Humber's semesters are scheduled as follows: Fall term: September to the end of December and Winter term: January to the end of April. All inbound study abroad students are asked to participate in Humber's Orientation program, which takes place directly before the start of term.
Tuition, Expenses and Accommodations
Students pay tuition to his/her home institution. A student will typically require living expenses of about $6,000 CAD for one academic semester at Humber. There is an abundance of quality student accommodation in Toronto. This varies from private apartments to on-campus Humber student residences. On-campus accommodation can fill up very quickly, therefore, we advise that you reserve your accommodation as early as possible (before your arrival in September) to ensure that you secure a place. Visit the residence site for International Students Residence Application Form.
Step 1
Students of Humber's partner universities who apply as exchange students must be approved and nominated as exchange students by their home university international officer. It is the home university international officer that is responsible for the exchange program with Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.
Step 2
After students are nominated, the home university coordinator will send their official nomination results to Humber via email by the deadline. Once the nomination is approved students will apply using Humber's application form, which Humber will provide to its partner universities.
Note: the application forms should be sent to Humber by the stated deadlines:
• Fall semester - May 1st
• Winter semester - October 1st
Step 3
Once students are approved as exchange students, they will receive an official offer letter from Humber. They will also receive information regarding securing early accommodation.
