HUMBER STUDENT WINS MPI'S STUDENT OF THE YEAR AWARD

June 14, 2018

Event Management students, Amanda Bahn and Lindsey Slade, were the only nominees at MPI's (Meeting Professionals International Organization's) Norman Neil Student of the Year award, with Amanda taking home the honour.

MPI is a global organization of meeting and event planners with approximately 2,000 event professional members. MPI held its annual, black tie/formal wear, Royal Gala on March 8th, at Metro Toronto Convention Center with 300 participants from Ontario and Quebec. Every year, the organization recognizes event professionals for their outstanding achievements in the field of meeting and event planning at their Royal Gala Night.

This year, Humber College was the only college (out of 8 colleges and two universities) to be recognized in the Student of the year award category. Our two current students broke the long chain of wins of Ryerson for this award (the award has been in existence for over 20 years).

Students are nominated based on their community/industry/school service, other awards and professional recognition, chapter participation, scholastic merit, placement/co-op experience and references.

The winner, Amanda Banh, received the scholarship on stage and thanked Humber College for the unwavering support in building her as an event professional.

Congratulations to you both, Amanda and Lindsey!

Amanda Bahn
