An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older (21 or older for degree programs) as of the first day of classes. Graduates of any two-year diploma program at Humber who have attained a cumulative grade point average of 70% or greater will be eligible to enter year three of the 4-yr Bachelor of Applied Management (BAM) at the University of New Brunswick. Depending on the diploma program, students may be exempted from study in certain courses and therefore, requested to take alternate courses offered by the Faculty of Business.

Humber’s Business – Accounting diploma program provides you with a well-rounded accounting education that features training in accounting procedures and theory, taxation, law, information systems, and management. Training in our state-of-the-art Accounting Centre, you’ll learn best practices in accounting and become adept at using industry-standard software such as Profile (personal tax), Access, Excel, Simply Accounting and Accpac Plus.
You will learn accounting from industry-connected faculty who are committed to providing you with practical, hands-on accounting training to help you get ahead. Our program’s versatile range of courses goes beyond the basics to help you develop broad-based business skills including human resource administration, business writing, macroeconomics and personal taxation. At any time, you can transfer to the three-year Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma program.
All two-year diploma students will complete an 84-hour work placement in their final semester. (Two-year diploma students are not eligible to apply for the optional co-op program.)
You have the option to study for four consecutive semesters if you wish to accelerate your path to graduation.Courses Program Standards
You will put your accounting knowledge and skills into practice during the 84-hour business placement component of this program. Students find the placement with support from the business placement advisor who maintains a roster of placement opportunities and provides students with direction and assistance in the development of resumés and job search techniques.
The Accounting Centre is a resource available to all students enrolled in accounting courses. Students provide assistance with textbook concepts, homework questions and an overall understanding of course material from 1st to 6th semester.

Through this program, you will develop practical and thorough knowledge of accounting practices, related technology applications, business analytics and soft skills required to help find employment after graduation. With your accounting diploma from Humber, you can pursue career opportunities in accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting, general ledger accounting, general accounting, credit and collections, inventory control, payroll accounting, budget analysis consulting, financial accounting, management accounting and tax preparation.
Your solid understanding of current accounting practices and ability to use the latest accounting software will make you marketable in a competitive marketplace and allow you to excel at helping organizations manage and strengthen their financial well-being.
(i) Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation
Both the two-year Business-Accounting diploma and three-year Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma programs offer pathways for students interested in pursuing an Ontario Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. When recognized as transfer credits towards a qualifying university degree, the two-year Business-Accounting diploma and three-year Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma support the completion of the CPA Professional Education Program academic requirements.

(ii) Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF)
Both the two-year Business-Accounting diploma and three-year Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma programs offer pathways for students interested in pursuing the Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF). When used as transfer credits, both diplomas support the entry and applied course requirements. Additionally, the three year Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma supports all of the ACAF technical course requirements.

Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping
The program meets some of the academic requirements for the Certified Bookkeeper (CB) designation.
The requirements for the additional credential(s) are determined by the granting body, which is independent from the College. Students are encouraged to obtain the specific requirements directly from the granting body before enrolling.
