HUMBER COMMUNIQUE - Varsity News June 9, 2010

MALAGA, SPAIN: The Humber Hawks are well represented
at the 2010 World University Golf Championships as three players and a
coach are in the red and white of Canada. Humber head coach Ray Chateau
is once again the head coach of Team Canada. Ray has represented his
country on many occasions at this international event. On the men's
side, Humber co captains Ryan Willoughby and Mike Zizek will look to
play well and see their scores be used as part of Canada's total. Danielle Greene, the 2009/10 OCAA champion will be representing Canada's women's team.
DAY 1
The
Canadian men sit in second place overall at the championships as they
carded a team total of 216, and sit just a single stroke back of the
leaders from Taipei. Humber's Willoughby (78) and Zizek (80) were not
selected as part of Canada's foursome on the day, but Willoughby's score
would have helped Canada to a tie for first. His score was better than
one of the members of the declared foursome for the day. Danielle Greene
had a strong day and ended up with Canada's second best women's round
on the day, with an 80. Canada is currently tied for eighth, nine back
of the leaders. Round 2 will take place on Wednesday.
