CERTIFICATE 02291 Accounting

Do you want to broaden your accounting knowledge? Are you currently in a job where you want to learn why a debit equals a credit? Or do you just want to learn about all aspects of accounting? Our Accounting Certificate is designed for students who have asked themselves the above questions. From the basic to the complex, this certificate will give you a thorough understanding of accounting and its intricate formulas.

Note: The English Placement Test is required for this program.

Exemptions

You may be granted exemptions in ACCT 111: Introduction to Accounting 1, and ACCT 211: Introduction to Accounting 2, on any of the following grounds:

  1. Proof of successful completion of first-level accounting in either the CGA or CMA programs.
  2. Proof of successful completion of a similar course at university or community college.
  3. Prior Learning Assessment - Students may be eligible for an exemption based on work experience. In order to challenge the courses students will be required to fill out a PLAR form and complete a comprehensive challenge exam (70% or higher required for CGA exemption). If you are interested in writing this exam you must register through the Registrar's Office. A fee will be charged for writing the challenge exam. Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition forms are available in the Customer Service and Registration Centre or visit plar.humber.ca for further information.
