Humber’s Paralegal Studies degree program – the only one of its kind in Ontario – is known for helping advance the profession in the province. Now, with the launch of a paralegal journal, program coordinator Bernie Aron continues to think big.
“Our program is like a law school for paralegals – we have the mooting activity for our students – and I thought the one missing piece was having a scholarly journal attached to our program,” Aron explained at last month’s launch of the journal. “I approached Thomson Reuters, which publishes a number of the books we use in our program, and made a proposal to them.”
The articles are all by Humber faculty, guest lecturers, grads and current students. Aron plans to make the Humber Journal of Paralegal Access to Justice an annual publication.
“The launch of the Humber Journal of Paralegal Access to Justice will both promote the paralegal profession and in doing so will highlight the talented students and graduates from the Humber College Paralegal program,” says Cathy Corsetti, a paralegal and recent recipient of an honorary degree from Humber.
“I myself graduated from Humber College in 1977 and am proud to see my college be the first one in Ontario publish such a journal.”
