What should I expect?

An online course runs similarly to an in-class course, except your classroom is a website. You have a teacher, classmates, offers a range of online courses on different learning systems. Check out a demo.

Are Humber's online courses self-paced?

No. Humber’s online courses have set start and end dates. Although you have access to course material 24/7, you must complete course requirements as outlined by your instructor on the critical path. Some courses associate a set day and time for the course. This is simply to accommodate our registration system.

When do I get access to the course site?

You have access to your course site any time after the start date, or just before (usually two to three days before). If you register after the course starts, you get access 24 hours after registering. If you register on a Friday, you will get access the following Monday.

Can I see the course outline before the course starts?

Course outlines are available through the department that offers the course, so you will have to contact the division to make this request.

How do I get login instructions?

Visit your course information page on the Open Learning Centre website to confirm your login instructions. We strongly recommend changing your password after you gain access to your course site.

Do I have to buy a book for an online course?

Some courses require a textbook. Visit the Humber Bookstore website to see if your course requires one.

Do online courses have final exams?

Yes. Credit courses have a final exam on campus. Your instructor will provide details on the course site. If you can’t visit Humber to take your final exam, the OLC, with your instructor’s approval, will help you make arrangements at another educational institution.
