Excel with Macros and VBA* Workshops

If you or your staff is spending time, over and over, on Excel projects that require repetitive processing, learn how to get results faster and with greater consistency.

  • Excel automation virtually eliminates time tending to complex Excel processing projects.
  • Excel automation eliminates counter-productive errors associated with labor intensive work.
  • As a result, automation of Excel projects results in significant time and cost savings!

The creation of a macro for an Excel processing project has typically required the skills of a VBA programmer. However, this training teaches typical Excel users how to:

  • Use Intermediate to Advanced Excel Worksheet Features, while
  • Using Excel’s Macro Recorder in ways that generate optimum VBA code, and
  • Follow this up by using Excel’s Visual Basic Editor to examine the generated code and then make basic, yet very powerful code modifications to either fix or enhance the generated code.

Thus, participants learn “low tech” ways to create “high tech” automation solutions.  As a result, the need for a VBA programmer’s involvement can be greatly reduce, if not eliminated.

How is Learning Accomplished?

Participants work through exercises with the trainer using Excel 2007 or 2010. A workshop workbook shows exercises in Excel 2007-2010 and Excel 2003. Also, a period of online support follows the workshop. This enables participants to view bonus materials and to obtain help with questions they may have in working through the workbook materials after the workshop. Finally, each 1-day workshop is a prerequisite for the next in the series:

The College awards participants a Letter of Recognition for taking all three workshops.

What Experience is Needed to Take Workshop Training?

The Excel with Macros and VBA Workshops are not intended for users who are Excel beginners. Optimum success is experienced by those with at least “entry level Intermediate skills”, as well as those with more advanced Excel skills.

Please note that prior experience with Excel macros is not required.
