In high school, Giovanna Cavalieri was always told she was creative yet she also did well in her business courses. For Cavalieri, Humber's new four-year Bachelor of Applied Business - Fashion Management degree was the perfect fit. Cavalieri's family owns a business so her mother, Ida, is happy with the business aspect of the degree. "The bachelor's degree prospect from Humber impressed us as did the chance for my daughter to experience a work placement," says Ida Cavalier, Giovanna's mother.
This year, Humber will offer five bachelor's degrees that follow a common format. Students studying e-Business Marketing, Fashion Management, Human Resources Management, International Business, and Tourism Management will begin with two years of solid business education in marketing, accounting, economics and law. They then will specialize in their chosen field during the following two years of their program.
Jim Higginson, a direct marketing consultant and member of the development advisory committee for the bachelor's degrees in business, says that the program's structure has many advantages. "There will be a mix of students in those first two years which will allow for greater interaction and ideas," says Higginson. "They will also have the advantage of receiving a broad, common business base and the choice of their particular area of interest in their final two years."
