The golf pro shop can be a critical revenue generator for the golf professional or the club. For the professional, it can represent a significant portion of personal earnings, and for the club, it not only represents income, but, in many cases, it is also a measuring stick of the golf professional's performance. As professionals, students must have a good understanding of their market, their products, their suppliers and their competitors. Without a sound working knowledge of these factors, it is difficult to create a meaningful and successful retail situation. The course is designed to follow the logical steps that a young professional would use in setting up a first retail pro shop.
