Mark Hanna is the Director of Professional and Continuing Education for The Business School. Mark provides academic management and administrative leadership through the development and implementation of seminars, workshops, distance learning courses, continuing education courses and programs offered by The Business School.
Mark started his time at Humber as a part-time instructor in the Law Clerk Diploma program, while also running his own entertainment law practice. Despite enjoying private practice, Mark was immediately drawn in by the experience of teaching, as well as Humber's incredible staff and environment. Mark joined the Business School on a full-time basis in September 2006, as a Professor and Program Coordinator for the Law Clerk and Paralegal Education programs. Eager to take on a new challenge, Mark accepted the position of Director of Professional and Continuing Education in 2011.
Mark began his studies at the University of Toronto, obtaining a B.A. in Criminology while studying under experts from University of Toronto's renowned Centre for Criminology. From there, he attended Osgoode Hall Law School, where he obtained his law degree. While articling with a civil litigation firm, Mark happened to become acquainted with a lawyer who was dabbling in entertainment law. With a profound "Eureka!", Mark realized that he had found a career well suited to his interests, coupling his legal background with his love of all things music. To this end, he decided to take a year to go to a music industry college, to learn the ins and outs of the music industry. Mark also managed two independent bands and provided consulting services to bands and other music industry professionals. Mark’s next educational understaking was to get his Masters of Law, specializing in intellectual property, from Osgoode Hall Law School. Currently, Mark is pursuing a PhD from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
Mark believes that his number one job as Director is to be a facilitator for the faculty and students, so that they can do their best work. He maintains a friendly, open-door attitude and is eager to assist faculty and students with any issues or concerns that they might have.
